What's the name of that wiimote extension and can I play game cube games with it?

Hi, I was wondering if the extansion for the wii mote that looks like a sness/gamecube remote ( i think is called "Retro Remote" ) can be used to play gamecube games?
Because my gamecube controlers are kidna all, thus, sort of not working properly.

No, you cannot play Gamecube games with a classic controller. I have tried. I’m not sure if local stores still sell Gamecube controllers, but I’m sure you could probably still order them from Nintendo.

Its called the Classic Controller.
I love using it for most games.
