F-Zero X on Nintendo 64 / N64 retro games console
www.retrogamingcollector.com —————- Gameplay from F-Zero X playing on the Nintendo 64 N64retro games console. Retro Gaming. This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability. It’s simply a quick demonstration of the game so that anyone not familiar with these old games can see what it looks like. It’s also here so that I can embed it, along with most of the games in my collection, on my website (see link above). Any opinions or comments I make regarding these games should largely be taken with a pinch of salt. They are usually based on my first impressions after a very brief play.

Y’know, I haven’t played video games while drunk in a very long time, but yeah… I bet this would be a good one for it

Yup… damn those talking animals.
They take a good looking game and turn it onto a Disney movie.

The handling is what I’d call a little slippery, but the track is so wide, it just doesn’t matter.

I often can’t get a balanced view of a game. Sometimes I’m swayed by what the media said about a game back in the day, while other times I’m influenced by my own feelings of nostalgia, coz I loved the game as a kid, even if it doesn’t hold up well today.
Then you get stuff like this… I never played it in the day, didn’t read Nintendo propaganda…er… magazines… so I come to this with just a mild dislike of Nintendo.
At least it doesn’t have talking animals, or big nosed plumbers in it.

I didn’t stumble across that one, sadly. I’ll try a few more buttons next time I play it.
Thanks for the info

F-Zero X is an excellent game and stands the test of time well. What was really impressive about the game back in 98, was the 30 different vehicles on the track.. all running at 60fps. It’s fast, it’s fun, it’s a classic.
Steve, you sounded in a grumpy mood that day. Then again.. you did say that you didn’t like F-Zero on the SNES, which I think is another classic that still delivers, so it’s just a case of the F-Zero series not being your cup of tea.

Still a way better series than wipeout

@calel360 You can buy an USB adapter (Ebay) for a N64 controller and hook it into your computer. It works fairly well after it’s configured.
just some info

It’s so refreshing to hear another gamer say they aren’t a Nintendo person.
The whole Nintendo thing doesn’t do it for me either, I only like the classic Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr.

ah nice one. unfortunately i dont own an n64 pad. i do find the 360 pad ok tho. analog sticks even work

I’m starting to regret asking you to make N64 videos now.
I do appreciate that you don’t like their style of game design, however; it’s not gonna be to everybody’s tastes.
Re: this game: it’s a heck of a lot more interesting when you’re playing on higher difficulties and you definitely can’t call it “soft” when you play it on Master, let me tell you.
I’ll have to make videos applauding the N64 and dissing the PS1/2 to compensate for this travesty! J/K.

And the “barge” – press L or R twice quickly – it’s usually more effective than the spin attack because it’s easier to pull off.
February 3rd, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Not when you play on higher difficulties!

Use the shoulder buttons, it stops you from skidding.
February 3rd, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Word! that’ll work too
Yeah, 007 Golden Eye and Perfect Dark are very good.
Stay away from Superman 64!! 0_o Just don’t do it!!!
February 3rd, 2010 at 2:27 pm
Yeah, it sure was.
I must admit: I wasn’t overly keen on the original F-Zero but I did play that AFTER F-Zero X and GX so that probably affected my viewpoint somewhat.
I can see that it was a very good game for its day, though.

im not a big fan of nintendo either for the same reasons as steve.
you cant deny that nintendo games are geared for a younger audience than the others so if you werent grabbed by their style of game when you were quite young then you probably never will be.
im generalising here but i think this applies to F-zero.
children of the 70/80s in the UK kind of missed the NES days and i think thts a lot to do with it. your always gona have a soft spot for the games you grew up with.

It’s funny, I really do sound grumpy in this video, but honestly, I really wasn’t. It’s just the effect the game had on me.
In the next video, which I recorded directly after this one, I’m much more animated and enjoying myself.
February 3rd, 2010 at 3:48 pm
T’isn’t
February 3rd, 2010 at 3:50 pm
Yup… though I do like Mario Kart too. Not keen on him when he’s out of the cart though.
Super glue him into it and he’ll be fine.
February 3rd, 2010 at 3:52 pm
Heh… your mind control powers are not that strong, coz I’d be doing N64 vids anyway
But fear not, coz my next few vids are of N64 games that I do like.
February 3rd, 2010 at 3:53 pm
Spoken like…. well… like me.
Very nicely put
February 3rd, 2010 at 3:54 pm
Yes it looks like an easier version of XGRA on the original XBox, I would hope the difficulty increases with later levels. I was thinking about other Racing games today which are okay, nothing spectacular but still fun, SledStorm on the PS1 sprung to mind, siplistic arcade style but pretty fun.
February 3rd, 2010 at 3:55 pm
@calel360 i have a soft spot for nintendo 64 cos thats what i grew up with but i dont think nintendo aim all their games at kids because i think they’re supposed to bring the inner child out of you

FuzzyDaKirbyFan, you right. what i said was a massive generalisation. im 36 and i hammered New Super Mario on the DS over xmas.
there are numerous games for nintendo console that are rated 18 but im guessing there are more for say sony consoles.
