The hair was high and long and feathered (horrible). The clothes were comfortable, but full of holes. The music was loud and awesome. As far as TV, CHiPS, Webster, Different Strokes, Who’s the Boss, 60 Minutes was still 60 Minutes, Charles in Charge, Alf, and many, many others. Cars were large and loud and went something like 10 mpg (and that was good). It was the era of lemons as far as cars went; the AMC Gremlin, the Ford Pinto, the Ford Maverick, the VW Fox, um…yeah really crappy big cars that were later recalled because some could ignite instantly in an accident. John Lennon was killed in 1980, and the Challenger tragedy, and Reagan was shot (but survived). Gas was like .80 a gallon, and that was outrageous back then.
Oh! I forgot about the Pogo Ball, Atari, and Scooters!
80’s in a few words – big (hair, cars, music), loud (colors, music), and imaginative.

They were also repsonsible for Buster Poindexter, Rick Springfield, Rick Astley (or Rickrolling fame), and so on.
The metal of the ’80s was pretty bad ass, I agree, but it had to compete with a LOT of horrible shit.

I was 12 years old during the last year of the 1980s decade which was 1989 so I atleast remember the late 80s very well, not so much the early 80s though since I was too young.
