Clearly the turning point of this match was the wicked backhand winner at 2-3. Left Player followed that with two consecutive aces, and the rout was on. Right Player didn’t win another point. By the end, Right Player was so discombobulated and demoralized that he whiffed on a lob of a serve at match point. Meltdown! It was not an impressive victory. It was a sloppy one, enabled largely by an surprisingly pedestrian opponent. Still, a win’s a win and Left Player advances to the next round.
